Don’t be fooled by this transmitters simple looking exterior. The 100 Watt FM Stereo Transmitter has a very high specification and is more than a match in technical quality to any of the other professional FM transmitters on the market at much higher prices. By not including frills such as expensive 19” enclosures and LCD displays we can make this transmitter at a price that is affordable to the smallest of radio stations. Over the last few years we have sold around 800 of these units, many to countries in the world with the worst environments and the hottest climates.

could be up to 30 miles.
The 1W PLL drive use’s a push pull half frequency Hartley oscillator, this technique allows the output to be doubled in frequency easily and produces a good stable high level output (~+10dBm) with very low noise. Two further RF transistor amplifiers raise the level to +30dBm. Two independent varicaps are used in the oscillator, one for the PLL DC correction voltage and the other for the FM modulation. This design approach ensures that the Deviation Sensitivity Stability (Sec 4.10 ETS 300 384) remains well within the EU spec of ± 3% from 0 to 40 deg C. The PLL crystal reference oscillator operating at 6.4 MHz includes a small trimmer capacitor for fine tuning the final VHF output to the EU spec of 50 Hz (Sec 4.6 ETS 300 384).
An MRF151 easily provides 100 watts of power continuously day in, day out, in the main amplifier block (click for temp test results). Using a 15 element LC arrangement the amplifier output is low pass filtered to ensure that any spurious and harmonic signals remain within the tough EU spec of -75dB rtc. (Sec 4.11.1 ETS 300 384), this in turn easily puts them within the FCC and Industry Canada spec.
By adjusting a small control inside the unit the RF power output level can be set anywhere from 1W to 100W. Any frequency
between 87.5 to 108 MHz can be accurately programmed on the internal dip switches.
Pre-emphasis time constants of 50uS, 75uS (USA) or none are easy to select on the Internal jumpers.
This unit is designed with high reliability in mind. The cooling system incorporates a high quality 53cfm - 80mm brushless dual ball bearing fan, with a lifespan of 5 years at an ambient temperature of 40 degrees celsius. To maintain long term RF Output reliability the linear power amplifier is fitted with a 150 watt Mosfet Device. Due to this design the 100 watt FM transmitter is capable of Non-Stop Operation anywhere in the world with high reliability.
Under severe load mismatch conditions (poor SWR, Return Loss) the amplifier will automatically foldback the power to a safe level to protect itself, the antenna and cables from damage. When the load becomes good, full power automatically restores.
Expensive test equipment is NOT required, set up is a simple task using the LED's on the front panel. The transmitter package will operate on 230/115V AC or 13.8V DC 16 amp max. The 13.8V DC option makes battery backup, solar powered systems and operation from a vehicle battery very easy.
